Install Leapwork Flow from the command line

Use the command-line interface (CLI) installer to install, update, repair, or uninstall Leapwork Flow from a command prompt or PowerShell script. The CLI package uses an executable and a ZIP file instead of the Microsoft Installer (MSI) package.

Before you begin

  • Run PowerShell as an administrator.

  • Download the CLI installer executable and its ZIP package.

  • Confirm that the package and any license files are available on the machine.

Install Leapwork Flow

  1. Open PowerShell as an administrator.

  2. Go to the folder that contains the CLI installer and package.

  3. Run the install command with the required parameters.

  4. Wait for the installer to finish.

  5. Confirm that the required Flow components are installed and running.

Command: [Add the verified install command and a complete example.]

Install without a license key

Use --force-silent-enterprise-install for a silent Enterprise installation without a license key.

Reuse the existing configuration

Use --reuse-configuration during an upgrade or redeployment to keep the supported configuration values.

Configure the database

The installer sets up a SQLite database for Trial and Platform installations. It does not overwrite existing SQLite files.

For Enterprise installations, you can configure:

  • Microsoft SQL Server with standard security

  • Microsoft SQL Server with a trusted connection

  • Azure SQL

When you use a trusted connection, the Controller service must run under the same credentials.

Update or repair an installation

  1. Open PowerShell as an administrator.

  2. Run the CLI command for the update or repair operation.

  3. Add any supported parameters for changing configuration or replacing, adding, or excluding components.

  4. Confirm that the operation completes successfully.

Activate a license offline

The CLI installer supports offline license activation.

  1. Generate a license request file (.REQ) with the verified CLI command.

  2. Provide the request file through your organization’s licensing process.

  3. Save the returned license file (.LIC) on the machine.

  4. Run the verified CLI command to install the license file.

  5. Confirm that Flow is activated.

Uninstall Leapwork Flow

Run the CLI uninstall command. A full uninstall removes the installed files, registry values, configuration files, services, firewall rules, and shortcuts.

Use the silent Enterprise install option

The --force-silent-enterprise-install option does not prompt for a license key during repair or update. Uninstalling deactivates the license. Reinstalling with this option does not reuse a license from a previous licensed installation.
